This was at least the second time that fall that Britt ventured outside of Texas to play a tiny little San Francisco show. His previous show at the Hotel Utah was insanely packed and ridiculously amazing. That time, as with this show, Britt played lots of Spoon songs and a few new ones he was working on, including "I Summon You", "Sister Jack" and "The Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine". Seeing Britt Daniel up on a stage instantly makes me feel like I'm back in Austin, watching him setup his little boombox at Stubb's or Hole in the Wall. The first time I saw him play along with perfectly recorded beats, I didn't know what to make of it. Now, it's beyond endearing and really fun to watch. So check it out!

(This was also the same night John Vanderslice played downstairs at the Cafe du Nord -- click here for those photos)

Britt gets the beat started.

He usually plays in button up shirts, a pleasant detail.

He didn't have beats for every song, so he'd walk back and forth to stop it.

On some of the more complex songs, right at the end, he'd walk over to the boombox and perfectly time the accent chording, stopping with a sudden precision.

At the end of the show, he turned the box up super loud for either "Paper Tigers" or "Stay, Don't Go" and just fucking walked off stage and let it finish after him.
