I started
taking photographs in March 2000, with the consent of the band.
My
photos are the work of love and many hours inside smoky clubs and sterile
computer labs.
Just
remember that everything is copyrighted Alex Myers 2000 - 2006
Because this is the complete set of my work, including all the early shows (aka, when I was just learning), I recommend starting in 2004-2005 to see better results.
About my photography and this web site:
I have been photographing life for years. In high school, I learned how to develop my own black and white photographs. This website and project evolved as I decided to teach myself web design and color concert photography. My education continues. This website has and will change slightly over time as I add new shows, new tricks, and new bands. All material and content is copyright Alex Myers 2000-2006. Yes, even this very swank, hand coded HTML. Please do not reproduce without permission. But hey, if any of these images interest you for use in published materials, do not hesitate to contact me. I am currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you would like photographs taken of your band or at your club, here in the Bay Area or in other cities, let me know. Some of my other work with bands can be found on the main page at http://alex.pecanbiz.com/
I am very grateful to Murry Hammond. It is only with his permission that I am able to photograph any show, from almost any vantage point in the club. If you ever want to take photos at a small club show, be polite and ASK THE BAND FIRST!
Thank you Murry, Rhett, Ken, and Philip and the extended Old 97's family.
* Seriously, it's pretty funny to look back over all my work and watch a style develop. I started out with a 28-80 mm lens, a nikon N70, 400 speed film and utter determination. If anything, this site is proof of what access to a university computer lab scanner and one course in late 1990's HTML can do for you.
If you've enjoyed my photos, feel free to support this site and my creative impulses. I've never been paid by Elektra or New West Records. But I love meeting new folks and I'll never turn down a good vodka tonic.
