I showed up to this show about ten minutes before doors and got myself a plum spot right up front. For other shows in this club, I'd sat on the floor (see: nada surf and britt daniel), but this time I got a nice folding chair and a slightly better sight line. I brought my tripod but found that I could easily hold anything faster than 1/30 sec at f/1.8 -- most of these photos come in around 1/60 of a second. This show is a continuation of the no flash low light experiment. As you can see, the lighting on Rhett was very red and yellow. Rhett wisely took my advice and started the show in his swank jacket. He looked good and sounded even better. He played several new songs from his upcoming solo album, including a stunning one about Elliot Smith. Of course, a few Old 97's songs managed to sneak into the set, as did a few good stories. Thanks Rhett!
