View of the sign, looking east down O'Farrell street. The Great American is this fantastically ornate venue with some of the best acoustics in the entire city.
Scout has an astoundingly strong voice amd Gardner is quite stylish with his bass.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Firecracker. Dave (lead guitar), Gardner (bass), Scout (vox, guitar), Peter (drums) and Russell (keyboard).
Dave, Gardner, Scout, and the beginning of the strip show (just kidding, although the tie and overshirt were quickly shed).
Scout and Peter
Russell on keyboard. You have to love a band where more than half of the members perform in boots.
My best attempt at taking a Rhett Miller-esque photograph of Scout.
And now: a few more of that sign out front ...
Firecracker is an amazingly talented Bay Area band. They could be called alt.country, but you'd be better off just downloading the MP3's from their site and deciding for yourself. The six song album "Certain Things Last" is one of the best albums I've heard this year, quite a nice change from all the precious indie sensitive boy music. You want some songs about hard-drinking men who owe apoligies to a growing list of ladies? You want some violin with that? As a bonus, their new album will feature Ken Bethea from the Old 97's playing some serious guitar.
